Myanmar puppies

I dedicate this painting to puppies who lost their mothers because of street poisoning and to salute the  new Myanmar government who has publicly agreed to end killing of street dogs.

Inle Lake

It has been almost two years since I painted last. An addition in our family has a lot to do with it, but when I decided to paint again - during his sleeping hours - I cannot not put him in the picture. He has been a part of my life, my thought and he is such an inspiration. His energy, cuteness is irresistible; his laughter always fills our home and warms our heart.

This painting is made for our dear friend, Kanthan, whom we spent a lot of time with during our stay in Myanmar. He has relocated and we miss him so much. It takes a special person like that to make me dug my cabinet, pick the right silk and play again with brushes and paints.

Inle Lake is magical. It is about a landscape and culture that are so unique and it has not changed much for many generations. It struck me a lot while I am painting this idyllic looking village as the perception of beauty from an outsider like myself is actually poverty and hardship for people living there. It is a sad reality.
